Sublime New Zealand wine maker Stoneleigh, has taken over a once-abandoned Chippendale hotel to create a wine-lovers experience that takes you directly back to nature

The hotel at 48 Kensington St in the heart of Chippendale was just another abandoned building overtaken by nature until Stoneleigh wines came along. The premium Marlborough-based wine brand has transformed the space into a lush, green oasis of moss-covered furniture, wine bottle chandeliers and vine-bedecked reception rooms paying tribute to how Stoneleigh make their wines; with little intervention, letting nature run its clever course.

From now until December 3 'guests' are invited to enjoy a 360 degree wine-lovers experience in this verdant Miss Havisham-approved space. And just like a regular hotel, when you arrive the concierge is on hand to check you into the vine and foliage-filled Grand 'Wining' Hall, where a free tasting of Stoneleigh's show stopping wines is laid out on the overgrown dining table. Guests can then explore the other decked-out hotel rooms which reveal elements of Stoneleigh's naturally beautiful hometown base and wine making process, such as the Wild Valley Ballroom which shares the secrets behind Stoneleigh's Wild Valley range of 100 per cent wild fermented wines, or the Pinot Noir Study, which is of course, all about pinot.

Alongside the free tasting sessions the Stoneleigh Hotel is planning to host music gigs and photography classes, more details to be announced soon. Scroll through the gallery above for a look inside.

The Stoneleigh Hotel is open now until December 3 at 48 Kensington St, Chippendale. Head to Stoneleigh.com for more details.
