The newest addition to the stellar Barangaroo eat street brings a charming slice of southern hospitality to harbourside Sydney. With a set of seriously slick southern-inspired designer digs courtesy of Luchetti Krelle, a 500-strong American whisky menu, incredible water views and two large 'smokers' barbecuing up a mix of spiced-up Cajun and Creole cuisine - this newcomer is shaping up to have some pretty serious dining and drinking game.
On the menu you'll find classic southern culinary barbecue belles like beef brisket, pulled pork shoulder and Junee lamb all served with your choice of killer house-made sauce or relish. For the share and share alike diner there's a tea brined, smoked and blackened organic chicken or the 'pit-masters pick' which is a selection of all the BBQ meats, sides and sauces. Sides are a must-order with the mac 'n' cheese the obvious comfort food pick up. Fish and veggie lovers are also ably catered for via the chargrilled miso eggplant and the whole flounder served with an en pointe parsley salad.
Delicious dining aside, the real draw here is the bar. The 500+ whisky collection is tipped to double to nearly 1,000 over the coming months with speciality, limited edition and hard-to-find single bottles being added faster than they can reprint the menu. And then there's the cocktails - their extensive southern-style cocktail list features all the tasty tipples you'd expect like the 'hurricane' a hearty sipper filled with bacardi, cachaça, Jamaican rum, passionfruit, pomegranate and orange.
Nola Smokehouse and Bar is located at Tower 1, Level 1, 100 Barangaroo Avenue, Barangaroo. Open from Monday to Friday 11.45am - 1am, Saturday 4pm - 1am and Sunday 11.45am - 10pm (NB. Restaurant is only open until 3.30pm on Sunday, the bar is open until 10pm).
