Come December, foodie destination Chippendale will be adding another stellar diner into the mix with the opening of The Private Kitchen. Housed in The Old Rum Store on Kensington Street alongside all the foodie faves like Kensington Street Social, Spice Alley and Automata, this shiny new noshery will showcase a roll call of top international chefs on a rotating basis in the slick bespoke space.
But unlike your regular diner, The Private Kitchen is flipping the eat-out script by offering private bookings and events only - no walk ins and no date nights à deux. As for who will helm the kitchen, the first chef in the line up brings a culinary pedigree of the highest order. Chef Stanley Wong has worked in Michelin-starred Jean-Georges, New York's Spice Market and Hong Kong's chi-chi Mandarin Oriental. Wong's residency at The Private Kitchen will mark his first foray into the Down Under dining scene but not his last. In early 2017 Wong will open his first Australian restaurant, Eastside Grill in the Old Rum Store on Kensington Street.
We'll have to wait until the new year for the unveiling of the 2017 list of international culinary stars taking over the The Private Kitchen post-Wong, but in the meantime The Private Kitchen by Stanley Wong is taking bookings at email address: firstname.lastname@example.org.
