A famous Sydney gelato shop is going 100% vegan
Get the scoop
First Gigi's Pizza, then Silvereye, and now this - a third Sydney eatery is switching to an all-vegan offering - and lovers of full cream are not going to like it. Family-owned Newtown institution Gelato Blue made the change over the long weekend, ditching their milk-based menu for plant-based concoctions made with coconut milk and chickpea water.
Gelato Blue previously had a selection of vegan flavours in addition to its standard menu, but has switched to all vegan in response to demand. Flavours include carrot cake gelato, made with a lemon frosting base, maple syrup, walnuts and chunks of vegan carrot cake, plus peanut butter brownie, caramelised fig and cinnamon, coconut, passionfruit and even pavlova.
