The fast food game has seriously been kicked up a notch with the opening of BOWL.R in Balmain this weekend. Following a hugely successful Coogee pop-up last year, the poké/mylk/smoothie bar has a permanent home in Sydney's inner-west, and the menu is not only good for your Instagram feed, it's good for your body too.

"We're excited to be able to offer a new concept in fast food, our aim is to remove the connotation that fast food is unhealthy by creating quality food fast at affordable prices," explained Melissa Taylor who is the co-founder of the healthy enterprise.

Patrons can expect to find house favourite poké bowls, with the option to build their own from a selection of ocean trout, yellowfin tuna, chicken or miso cauliflower and sweet potato bases, if they are feeling particularly creative. BOWL.R also offers a selection of made-to-order salads and Guacamame - not a typo, but a smashed avocado and edamame dish with a hint of yuzu served with tortilla chips.

BOWL.R is also home to mylk bar containing only natural ingredients that are dairy, sugar and gluten free. The vice creams (vegan soft serve ice cream) are one to try, along with a delicious array of smoothie bowls and fresh coconut spiked with a shot of espresso (or charcoal, if you're feeling game). Cold pressed juices, Kombucha and a selection of 'Rainbow Lattes' made from all natural ingredients such as beetroot, cacao or turmeric are also available, as well as a new take on bubble teas. On weekends (starting October 28), house made granola will be available as well as breakfast bowls such as the Mediterranean with dukkah, soft boiled eggs, kale, hummus, labne, roasted chickpeas, house kraut, cherry tomatoes, sunflower seeds and sourdough.
