The lines between luxury fashion and street culture are becoming increasingly blurred - and there's one brand who is masterfully riding the wave

Say what you will about Hedi Slimane's reworking of Saint Laurent (and there's plenty of Parisians who do), but the proof is in the numbers: the French label is one of the hottest and most profitable around. Under Slimane's direction, the storied Parisian brand has aligned itself with musicians like Sky Ferreira and Courtney Love, translating the grungy vibe of California's skate and surf culture into high fashion - most evidently seen in the recent men's and women's ready-to-wear collections for S/S '16. So his latest move - a limited release collection of surfboards and skateboards - is a match made in youth street culture heaven.

The 'Surf Sound' collection, which is timed to drop at the same time as S/S '16, features 300 limited edition skateboards and 80 surfboards, which will be available for purchase at Saint Laurent boutiques and online. As you can see in the gallery above, the decks come in animal prints like zebra and leopard or decorated with arty graffiti-like washes and stamped with the word 'Baby'. Each deck also features (unsurprisingly) the clean and classic Saint Laurent logo.

While there's no word on the price tag yet, expect that these won't be your run-of-the-mill outlay for a surfboard or skateboard. We suggest you start saving now if you're keen for a piece of the action...
