When it comes to book recommendations, we trust the gal who brought 'Big Little Lies' and 'Wild' to the big screen

If you happen to be one of the 12 million people who follow Reese Witherspoon on Instagram, you wouldn't be surprised to learn that the Hollywood actress is a bit of a book-nerd, sharing snaps of her current reads and fave page-turners to her feed so much so that she has procured her own book-club page (run by fans, but facilitated by Witherspoon). It was her love of reading that brought Cheryl Strayed's Wild to the big screen, alongside Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn and the binge-able award winning HBO series, Big Little Lies based on the novel by Liane Moriarty.

These projects were produced by Witherspoon's production company, Hello Sunshine; centred on creating stories of strong and complex female characters, which explains why Witherspoon was such a key driving force behind the #TimesUp movement. According to a recent New York Times article, the avid reader is currently producing two novel-to-film movies; a thriller called Something in the Water based on the book by Catherine Steadman and a film titled A White Lie based on Karin Tanabe's novel The Gilded Years, starring and co-produced by Zendaya. This is on top of a HUGE Apple deal, producing three TV series; one inspired by a book by CNN media reporter Brian Stelter, slated to star Jennifer Aniston, and two other projects starring Octavia Spencer and Kristen Wiig.

So, it's pretty safe to assume that Witherspoon knows what she's talking about when it comes to a book that you cannot put down. Now we just need a page where she recommends music as good as the soundtrack to Big Little Lies - just putting that one out there, Reese. Bookmark this page (ahem, pardon the pun) for when you're stuck on what to read/want to read all the good books before your friends do.
