He's one of the world's most controversial - and lauded - contemporary artists, and now Australia gets to see his best work

Perhaps best known for his cross-dressing tendencies (his famous feminine alter ego is Claire), Grayson Perry knows how to get people talking. The Turner Prize winning artist layers his works with sharp social commentary and playful - but usually astute- jabs at popular culture, covering everything from pots (his first medium) to paintings and incredibly intricate, contemporary tapestries.

The first major survey of his works the Southern Hemisphere has ever seen opens at the MCA today until May 1. Grayson Perry: My pretty little art career showcases the artist's multi-faceted practice across all his mediums - and you might even spot the man himself in the MCA's pop-up gin garden while you're there.
