You may not be able to shop the runway (sigh), but you can definitely try the hair and make-up trends

The A/W '16-17 haute couture shows swept through Paris and Rome last week, leaving a trail of sequins, feathers and lip glitter (!) in their wake. From the exaggerated lashes and fluffy curls at Chanel to the elegantly over-stated feline flicks at Dior and Fendi, as usual, the beauty looks were as beautiful as the jaw-dropping gowns.

Head-turning statements like Versace's ruby red glitter lips and the dreadlocks at Jean Paul Gaultier aside, the majority of the make-up was refreshingly simple. But this season's take on barely-there make-up looks set to be less bronzed goddess, more ice maiden: think bare skin (sans even blush), bare eyes save for a subtle flick of mascara and a touch of gloss on pale pink lips. For those of you who can't imagine leaving the house without a liberal dusting of bronzer, Alberta Ferretti is the ultimate new season reference. See for yourself in the gallery above.
