The best beauty looks from Cannes 2015
So French, so chic
But if you like your make-up to make a statement, rest assured: it's not all French insouciance on the Cannes red carpet. From Natalie Portman's daring electric blue lids to Lupita Nyong'o's vibrant fuchsia lips, Cannes is delivering plenty of inspiration for the colour-crazed too.
In terms of hair, tresses are sleek and shiny, with sweeping side parts, low chignons and screen siren curls as the glamour crowd grow out their lobs and begin to embrace longer lengths again. In a nod to '70s style, centre parts and braids are also making an appearance.

A vision in off-white Alexander McQueen at the Carol photocall, Rooney Mara kept her hair and make-up refreshingly simple. Her washed-and-dried tresses were scraped into a half bun with on-trend centre part, while her make-up look was modern beauty at its finest: groomed brows, faintly flushed cheeks and an earthy nude lip.
True to form, Portman is keeping it low key, with natural make-up and shiny, healthy hair. For her first Cannes 2015 red carpet appearance, she opted for a subtle taupe smokey eye and sleek waves to work back with her va-va-voom Dior red gown, while yesterday's pale blue and black silk bustier, also Dior, called for something a little more statement - DiorShow Khol in Pearly Turquoise No. 379 across the lids.
Israeli model and actress Bar Refaeli let her blue eyes do the talking, accessorised with a sheer base (DiorSkin Nude Tan BB cream and DiorSkin Nude Air Powder in Light Beige), lashings of mascara and rosy cheeks and lips - Dior Rouge Baume in Primerose No. 488.

L'Oréal spokeswoman, model and actress Liya Kebede turned heads on both her Cannes red carpet outings so far - first up in a spangly mini-dress, softly tousled locks and pretty pink lips (L'Oréal Colour Riche 30 Years 136 Flamingo Elegance), followed by a sexy straight mane with centre part and bronzed base - L'Oréal Infallible 24-hour matte foundation in 32 Amber.

Watts' peaches and cream complexion glowed thanks to radiant peachy pink blush - L'Oréal True Match in 160 Peach - and rosy lips. The timeless make-up look worked equally well with the voluminous modern up-do of her first red carpet appearance and the '20s waves she wore next.
Not even galeforce winds could distract from Emma Stone's perfect porcelain complexion and gorgeous swept-to-one-side hairstyle. Her ornate Oscar de la Renta LBD demanded a simple make-up look of groomed brows, a subtle smokey eye and pink lips with a hint of shimmer.

Has Delevingne gone darker? The willowy blonde's newly caramel locks were loosely pulled into a braided chignon with centre part for a polished take on '70s style. Dramatic smokey eyes played up the dark hue of her deep-V gown.
Nyong'o rarely puts a foot wrong on the red carpet, and this year at Cannes was no exception. The only thing that could steal the spotlight from her emerald green Gucci gown? Her bold up-do, quickly christened a #fronut on Instagram and dripping with a diamond coronet - yet another example of the growing hair jewellery trend. We love her vibrant lipstick - Lancôme Hit List lined with Lancôme Le Crayon Lip Contour in Plum.

The Cannes Film Festival juror continues to keep onlookers guessing with her red carpet choices, each one dramatically different from the last. Our top pick? The rich berry lip and centre part braid she wore on her most recent appearance, which relaxed the high-necked Sonia Rykiel black dress and cape and set off her stunning Bvlgari collar.
