Yes, we recommend leaving Akira's sequinned brows and the rainbow dreads at Romance Was Born to the professionals, but there's a wave of beautiful, wearable styles emerging that look just as good on the models as they do on the street.
The overarching trend? Natural make-up with an I-just-got-back-from-a-beach-run glow - the ideal blank canvas for the season's optional extras: a neon or deep berry lip and winged eye.
Look 1: The new natural
Tapping into the trend for all things health and fitness, the emphasis is on healthy, radiant skin - think a natural, dewy base, nude lips, minimal eye make-up and brushed brows. Make-up director Alphie Sadsad of Bobbi Brown, who created the looks at Aje, explains: "The beauty look was clean, fresh and modern, with luminous, glowing skin, a taupe eye and defined, brushed-up brows for a youthful look. To keep the look natural, cheeks were given a natural flush with Pot Rouge for Lips and Cheeks in Powder Pink and lips paired back with Lip Balm SPF15."

Look 2: Winged eyeliner
Models walked the By Johnny runway with eye make-up to make the cat-eye look tame - think: bold black triangles on the outer corner of each eye. M.A.C. make-up director Nicole Thompson created the look using M.A.C. Chromaline in Black Black to create the shape's structure, with Carbon eyeshadow blended over the bottom lash line.
Look 3: Tangerine lips
Summer calls for a swipe of eye-popping colour and this season, we're swapping girlie pinks for in-your-face tangerine, as seen at Bianca Spender and Manning Cartell. The finish is creamy, saturated colour, so good lip care is key - exfoliate gently with an old toothbrush and only attempt if your pout is perfectly hydrated, lest your neon colour flake.
Look 4: Plum lips
On the other side of the spectrum, deep plummy hues and rich berry tones appeared at Johanna Johnson and Michael Lo Sordo, giving the labels' gorgeous gowns a moody and mysterious undertone. This is a trend to try now.
Look 5: The new smokey eye
Forget pin-thin lines - the new look eyeliner is lived-in and artfully smudged. Models walked multiple shows wearing next-day eye make-up, but nowhere was it more marked than at Alice McCall, who delivered a smudgy taupe by care of M.A.C. In place of grey and black was mocha, taupe and earthy burgundy with a glint of metallic. Consider it the summer-friendly version of the smokey eye.
