Use me: Alice Through the Looking Glass x Urban Decay
Five years ago, when makers of the cult shadow palette Urban Decay released a limited edition Alice in Wonderland Book of Shadows, the world went crazy - in fact, it sold out within hours. Fast forward half a decade and Urban Decay is aiming to replicate that success with this next instalment, the Alice Through the Looking Glass Eyeshadow Palette.
The timing is perfect: the colours are inspired by the new Disney film of the same name (starring Johnny Depp, Mia Wasikowska and Anne Hathaway and slated for a July 14 release in Australia). The palette contains 20 new shades with that velvety, easy-blend and long-wear formula that earnt Urban Decay its cult status.
Although at first glance the colours look too gaudy to wear in real life, there are some real winners in the mix - we like Mirror, a grey-taupe satin, Chronosphere, a metallic deep bronze and Time, a black-navy satin with iridescent micro-sparkle for nights out and Looking Glass (pale pink demi-matte) and Dormouse (warm brown matte with subtle gold sparkle) for day. Then there's Cake, a saturated hot pink with silver shimmer, or Hatter, a suitably mad vivid green. They're the ones we'll reserve for costume parties.
The Alice Through the Looking Glass Eyeshadow Palette, $98, launches in Mecca stores this week. Catch it while you can.
