Master the matte lip with the new Charlotte Tilbury sticks
Goodbye, gloss
From plump nude pouts to rich ruby reds, the defining trend to come out of Fashion Week so far is a modern matte lip. Yes, it might bring back bad '90s associations (and conjure slightly unsettling Kylie Jenner selfies), but rest assured: the 2015 version can be flattering.
Just ask the make-up queen herself, Charlotte Tilbury, who has just released a complete collection of Matte Revolution Luminous Modern-Matte Long-Lasting Lipsticks. "I've always loved creating a fuller lip effect with matte lipsticks on campaign shoots," Tilbury says. "Where as gloss contours, a matte finish can flatten the lips for a wider shape." Her brand new formula contains antioxidant-rich Lipstick Tree (are we the only ones picturing a magical make-up tree right now?) and orchid extracts to soften the lips, so it doesn't dry them out like matte lippies past. It also lasts way past your morning coffee - so far I've had berries, yoghurt and a cup of green tea and the colour's stayed put.

The square, angled tip mimics the shape of a lip brush for a precise application and the highly pigmented colour glides on well. It's also buildable - apply once for a stain (very Burberry S/S '16) or layer up for intense, velvety colour à la Jason Wu. Our favourite shades? Miss Kensington for a richer take on the nude lip and Red Carpet Red to channel the Fashion Week trend. Shop at charlottetilbury.com/au.
