While she may not have the Instagram followers to prove it, her loyal supporters have made their presence felt in other ways - like convincing M.A.C to create a collection in the late singer's honour. Since Selena Quintanilla's tragic death in 1995 - she was shot, bizarrely, by the president of her fan club - her following has skyrocketed, culminating with a change.org petition for a M.A.C make-up line last year.
After the petition attracted over 35,000 signatures (and over 5000 in the first 24 hours), M.A.C took notice, announcing last July that, "We have heard the passion and enthusiasm from her fans and wholeheartedly agree that her legacy embodies M.A.C's philosophy." Now, they've revealed a sneak peek of the first product in the M.A.C x Selena collection, a vibrant pink/red named Como La Flor after one of the singer's smash hits.
Quintanilla's sister, Suzette Quintanilla, has collaborated with M.A.C on the collection and says the singer always dreamed of having her own make-up line. "She would be beyond ecstatic to have this happening," she said. The products hit the shelves in October.
