We got our first glimpse last year, when cool-kid shades company Oliver Peoples collaborated with equally coveted Swedish perfume house Byredo on a limited edition capsule. Strange bedfellows? Yes. Wildly successful? Absolutely. So successful, in fact, that the brands are back at it on a second collab to celebrate their first anniversary.
Titled Golden Hour after the honeyed glow of an LA sunset, the new collection includes five new acetate and lens combos and three gorgeous new Byredo bottles with new Goldtone Mirrored coating. Available in three colours - Rosewood, Mustard and Moss - to match the new specs, the collection builds on the concept of synaesthesia: a condition whereby the stimulation of one sense (for instance, smell) can involuntarily produce an association with an entirely different one (like sight).
Byredo's master perfumer has synaesthesia, and the Oliver Peoples x Byredo perfume was produced by having him translate the sights of LA - seen through different coloured lenses - into smells. Cool? Absolutely. Shop the new bottles at mecca.com.au.
