New York-based fashion designer Jason Wu is known for his scene stealing cocktail frocks and refined uptown New York aesthetic, and is a favourite of all the most style-forward A-listers from Michelle Obama (she wore Jason Wu gowns to the 2009 and 2013 Inauguration Balls) to Reese Witherspoon to Diane Kruger. And while we may not be able to afford one of Wu's exquisite evening dresses - they retail above the $1K USD mark - we all want a slice of the Jason Wu style magic.

Thankfully, Wu has heeded the call from the gallery for a less pricey way to experience his brand - first with the launch of his more affordable line Grey and now with the launch of his sublime first fragrance, Jason Wu (it retails for around $194 AUD).

What's more it heralds the beginning of Jason Wu 'beauty', with Wu telling W, "I'm a beauty guy... I do think it's something that translates with my aesthetic so well, and that I really have a feel and passion for it. I hope this fragrance is the first of many and... my goal is to look at this as the launch of, really, Jason Wu Beauty."

Jason Wu fragrance

The fragrance was developed in collaboration with master perfumer Frank Voelkl from renowned fragrance and flavour firm, Firmenich and is set to become an instant favourite with floral fragrance fans. The key note is Jasmine sambac, also known as Arabian jasmine, a delightfully fragrant floral which is handpicked in India at specific times of the year to ensure the full power of the scent is captured.

Fronting the fragrance campaign is Victoria's Secret alum Lily Aldridge.

Jason Wu fragrance is now available from saksfifthavenue.com and will be available in Australia on October 2 from selected Myer and David Jones stores.
