If you were to guess what kind of menu item KFC would launch next, what would you say? A new burger? Doughnut shakes? Sweet potato fries? None of the above: the fried chicken chain is branching out into beauty, with the launch of two flavoured nail polishes. The world has officially gone mad.

Giving a whole new meaning to KFC's famous 'finger lickin' good' slogan, the limited edition lacquers are available in two flavours - Original Recipe and Hot & Spicy - and at this stage will only be available in Hong Kong stores. Spice company McCormick - which provides KFC with its secret recipe of 11 herbs and spices - collaborated on the product range, but the release doesn't mention whether actual chicken was involved. Let's hope not.

According to KFC's statement, the flavours "have been carefully formulated from natural ingredients into edible nail polish." These are their instructions for use: "Simply apply and dry like regular nail polish and then lick - again and again and again to taste why the world's favourite chicken is Finger Lickin' Good." Gross.

Although the nail polishes are limited edition, KFC has released this video inviting Hong Kong fans to vote for the best flavour to go into mass production. What's next - a fragrance with notes of French fries? Actually, we'd probably buy that.
