As if being diagnosed with cancer isn't enough to deal with and then the chemo starts along with the hair loss. Our locks are something we take for granted, they're part of who we are and so much of our self-confidence is tied up in it. Which is why losing it during cancer treatment is an incredibly unwelcome side effect. Enter Toni & Guy's new Pink Scissor Program.

Recently launched across Australia in selected Toni & Guy salons, according to a statement the project aims to "...support those who are going through chemo and the difficult stages and effects of losing hair." The Pink Scissor crew will style the client's hair during the hair loss stage, right up through to the shave and afterwards during the regrowth stage. But these aren't just any scissor-wielding stylists, they've got a-whole-lot of heart and are specially trained to support clients through this challenging period with dignity and compassion.

How does it work? At the initial Pink Scissor Program visit, "...the Pink Scissor Specialist provides a complimentary consultation to help minimise frustration and anxiety associated with hair loss. They will then provide a complimentary cut or shave, depending on the client's needs." For those sporting wigs, they'll also provide a free style update to the wig. Post-treatment, if you've been through the Pink Scissor Program, you'll score 20 per cent off your first haircut.

This fabulous company, Toni & Guy are supporters of Look Good Feel Better and the National Breast Cancer Foundation and if clients would like to support either organisation they can add $2 to their final bill.

The Pink Scissor Program is available in selected Toni & Guy salons around Australia. Visit toniandguy.com.au for salon locations and further information on the program.
