6 new men’s scents to see you through spring
The sexiest half dozen yet
You can practically smell it in the jasmine-scented air. Spring is on the horizon and with it a bunch of new men's scents that are bold enough for the end of winter but fresh enough to wear til summer strikes.
1. Zadig & Voltaire This Is Him! EDT, $70 (30ml), myer.com.au, davidjones.com.au
We are generally suspicious of anything with exclamations in the title but the French fashion house has created an instant rock-tinged classic with incense at its heart and peppercorns up top. The matching This Is Her! (again with the exclamation marks) is also worth a sniff.
2. Versace Dylan Blue Pour Homme EDT, $65 (30ml), myer.com.au, davidjones.com.au, sephora.com.au
As you'd expect from a Mediterranean-inspired fragrance, citrus fruits are front and centre here but it's in the base notes of mineral musk and saffron that the real impression is made.
3. Roberto Cavalli Uomo EDT, $80 (50ml), 1800 812 663
This is anything but a cliché with unusual notes such as honey playing off the likes of lavender and cedarwood. Think of it as a cocktail for your skin but go easy as it's pretty potent.
4. Kilian Moonlight In Heaven, $475, libertineparfumerie.com.au
No it's not a typo. What do you get for this price? Exceptional notes - mango, rice, coconut milk, vetiver - in a blend that no one else in the room will be wearing.
5. Tauer L'Air Du Desert Morocain EDT, $199 (50ml), mensbiz.com.au
Every bottle of this spicy elixir is accompanied by a handwritten note from the perfumer himself. Coriander, cumin and a hint of rose make this one of year's warmest and most memorable offerings.
6. Polo Blue EDP, $109 (75ml), davidjones.com.au
The press release says this is "designed for the distinguished man who leads his comrades to a glorious victory". We shit you not. What you actually need to know is that it's a modern riff on a classic aquatic theme with bergamot, cardamom, vetiver and amber.
