Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Suki Waterhouse, Jess Alba, Chrissy Teigen, Phoebe Tonkin and Emma Stone are just a few of the flawless faces LA facialist Shani Darden works on, here she spills the goods on getting that A-list glow

Stunning red carpet dwelling celebs seem to have one thing in common: flawless-looking skin. They're unlined, freckle-free and appear to have achieved this by winning the genetic lottery. But, if you delve a little deeper (or strip back the Face Tune filter) you'll realise not all celeb skin is created equal and there's a tribe of beauties who seem to glow beyond what nature and a talented make-up artist could realistically achieve. Their secret? LA-based esthetician Shani Darden and her game-changing Retinol Reform.

Shani is the gospel when it comes to flawless Hollywood skin and her client list bears witness to her phenomenal results-driven mantra. Ever seen Victoria's Secret alum Rosie Huntington-Whiteley with a blemish? Or Jess Alba dull-faced and unavailable for a close up? Thanks to Shani we never will.

In true celeb 'where's the secret entrance?' style, Shani sees clients from her home in LA and speaks to us from there on getting that Hollywood glow and why you need Retinol Reform in your life:

What sparked your interest in the beauty industry?
I grew up in a small town in Upstate New York and actually moved to LA to model, but I've been interested in skincare for as long as I can remember. I used to make face masks when I was little and begged my mom to take me to the dermatologist at an abnormally young age.

Where did you learn your facial techniques?
After I earned my esthetician license, I worked with Dr. Erma Benitez, a dermatologist who taught me about treating a variety of skin issues before developing my technique at spas in Los Angeles.

What are your skincare tips for getting your clients' skin red carpet ready?
Once my clients are on a skin care routine that is suited for their skin type, it takes a few little steps to get them red carpet ready. I recommend a treatment the day or week of an event (depending on skin type) - I avoid extractions and recommend a light chemical peel and LED light therapy to give them an amazing glow.

Please tell me about your Retinol Reform skin care:
My Retinol Reform is a gentle, yet effective retinol option that reduces fine lines and wrinkles as well as discoloration, boosts collagen in the skin, and helps make skin look tighter and younger. I'm currently in the process of developing an extension to the line that's set to launch next year.

What are your five golden rules for day-to-day skin care?
1. Wear an SPF 30 daily to protect your skin from the sun
2. Cleanse your skin in the morning and at night to ensure no residue that can cause breakouts is left behind
3. Add a retinol into your skincare routine to help alleviate the signs of aging
4. Exfoliate with a light at-home chemical peek weekly to get rid of dead cells on the surface of your skin and give yourself an amazing glow
5. Incorporate the NuFACE Trinity Pro at-home microcurrent device into your routine to help improve facial contour, tone skin, and reduce wrinkles

What are the most common skin concerns you treat and how do you treat them?
The most common skin concern I see when people first come in to me is acne. Usually this is because people are using the wrong products for their skin type, which clogs their pores and causes breakouts. Once they get on a routine that's suited for their skin type and start coming in for regular facials, skin clears up quite quickly.

Are there any revolutionary new treatments on your radar?
LED light therapy has been around for quite some time, but is currently having a moment so to speak. It's great for decreasing fine lines and wrinkles and boosting collagen in the skin, as well as killing acne. It's noninvasive and anyone can use it!

What do you love most about being a skin care guru?
I love making people feel confident and beautiful.
