Come spring, what's in your make-up kit and how you use it needs a major overhaul. As luck (and perfect timing) would have it, there's a slew of shiny, new, A-list approved, high-performance beauty prods which have just landed direct from the backstages of the fashion runways. Here, our resident beauty guru, make-up artist Heidi King, decodes the latest make-up trends, how to wear them and more importantly, which products will slay the effortless, natural 'no make-up/make-up' on everyone's wish list.
Long wear and luxury: Artémes Lashes $35, artemeslashes.com
High-end, responsibly sourced mink and silk lashes by Aussie brand Artémes are getting the oohs and aahs from lash lovers all around with their new signature range. Lasting for up to 25 wears, they're the longest wearing false lash you can buy and the selection goes from minimal to extreme in a blink.
Top tip: Make sure you measure and trim off the longer end for a better fit. Also carefully remove any glue after wearing to get maximum use.
Dreamy skin: Stila Aqua Glow Serum Foundation $67, mecca.com.au
The trend for S/S '16 is sheer and effortlessly glowing skin. Stila's fab foundation will make it happen with its combination of weightless- yet-buildable coverage, reflective optical diffusion and ionised water-based serum that enhances even the dullest of skin tones.
Top Tip: Apply this foundation with a damp sponge to enhance the glow.
The now brow: Benefit Gimme Brow Volumising Gel $39, benefitcosmetics.com
Benefit's entirely new Brow collection is hands down some of the best out there, and the Gimme Brows would have to be their front runner. This baby-size brush helps you build colour and volume section by section. The waterproof fibres add dimension to the hair all for better, bushier brows.
Top Tip: Brush your brows with a clean brow brush to place them in your desired shape before applying colour. This helps you guide your shape better.
From Frog to flush: Lipstick Queen Frog Prince Blush $24, lipstickqueen.com
Trust Poppy King, the lipstick queen to come up with such a cool beauty idea! This Kermit green tint magically turns to a stunning natural flushed shade on your cheeks to give that 'just run in the cold' look to your face. Like the matching lipstick, the blush reacts to the skins pH giving you a customised colour.
Top Tip: Always apply cream blush with your middle finger to guide you across the length of your cheekbones, it also helps to warm up the product before applying to the skin.
Trust fund coverage: Kat Von D Lock It Concealer $32, sephora.com.au
This concealer is a sure-thing for staying right where you need it and for a loong time! The latest cult concealer has earned its reputation by covering tattoos yet still being creamy and soft enough to wear around the eyes without looking cakey.
Top Tip: Always use a hydrating eye cream before you apply any concealer to allow for a seamless application. Also keep the concealer at a minimum around the crows lines so it doesn't crape on the skin.
The classic multitasker: Nars Sculpting Multiple Duo $58, mecca.com.au
Here comes the most ideal way to get that 'just airbrushed' framework for your face. The bronzer and highlighter colours we know and love already, conveniently put together in a cream formula compact. The advantage of using a cream sculpting product over powder gives a more seamless finish to your sculpting application.
Top Tip: With a soft angle blush brush, add the shader colour into the bone areas of the face, using inward strokes. Blending is key with creams; think less Insta make-up, more editorial make-up!
Cosmetic cool kid colour: The Estée Edit by Estée Lauder Eyeshadow Palette, sephora.com.au
Another Kardashian family make-up collab, but this so far is the best one. Estée Lauder brand has created a cooler, younger version of itself to cater for the make-up artist in everyone. The range includes some seriously clever pieces, and this palette, complete with Kendall Jenner's favourite eyeshadow looks is limited-edition (of course).
Top Tip: Try doing your eye look before the rest of your make-up for a cleaner, fresher looking base.
Superhero blow waves: The Dyson supersonic hair dryer $699, davidjones.com.au
Since its Australian release 6 weeks ago, it seems as if there's nothing hotter than having a Dyson dryer to blow your locks with. The quietest, lightest and least damaging of hair dryers around, it's no wonder every hair stylist and luxury beauty lover around has to have one. $600 is nothing for amazingly healthy hair right?
Top Tip: Blast your hair with the cool function after you finish your drying to lock in the look and combat against fly always.
