Aussie model Erin Holland spills all her beauty secrets
If you've ever seen any type of pageant like Miss World, Miss Universe or even just Sandra Bullock's hit flick, Miss Congeniality you'll know pageant beauty game is strong. Every contestant is ready for their close-up from any angle, at any time. And 2013's Miss World Australia, Erin Holland is no exception, the model and entertainer always looks flawless.
So naturally the secret to Erin's glowing skin and camera-ready looks is something we all want to know. Here, Erin reveals her glow-getting beauty routine, the products she can't live without and why sun safety is top of her beauty list:
What's your morning beauty routine?
My morning beauty routine starts with a glass of warm water with a dash of lemon. It can be bit of a task some days to drink up to two litres, so I try to start the day right and drink a glass of water as soon as I wake up to keep on top of staying hydrated.
I shower in the morning as the steam helps open my pores and give me a dewy fresh-faced look, then I cleanse. I use Neutrogena's Deep Clean Shine Control Scrub to gently exfoliate and remove impurities - I wear a lot of make-up for work, so it's really important to cleanse.
Next up: toner, followed by serum (to keep wrinkles at bay!). Then the all-important sunscreen. Every day we're exposed to damaging UV rays - whether it's a sunny or overcast day. To combat skin damage and ageing, I apply Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Fluid sunscreen every morning under my make-up. The sunscreen is lightweight, non-greasy, it helps hydrate my skin and more importantly it's an SPF 50. Win-win.
Lastly, depending on my day and work schedule I apply minimal make-up. This usually consists of foundation, bronzer, highlighter, mascara and a light, hydrating lipstick.
Five fave beauty products?
#1 Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Fluid: it's a great, hydrating sunscreen which I use every morning under my make-up.
#2 Tarte Radiance Drops: an illuminator which I add to foundation for a beautiful glow.
#3 I carry a travel make-up kit with me everywhere! It has my favourite lip gloss, mascara and a Great Lengths hair brush.
#4 Endota Spa Primer: it's a great product I put on before applying heavy make-up, it's perfect on all skin types and helps minimise any imperfections.
#5 I ALWAYS use a faux tan to achieve a healthy summer glow without the sun damage. I get Sunescape Tans from The Parlour Room in Clovelly, or if I get stuck and have to do a quick DIY job, Bondi Sands is the best.
Which beauty item can't you live without?
That's like asking a mother to pick her favourite child! But if I had to choose it'd probably have to be... my faux tan. I love looking bronzed and find that when I am wearing it I feel more confident in what I am doing.
What beauty item is always in your handbag?
I always carry a tube of Lanolips in my bag. I tend to get dry skin, especially on my lips so I like to have Lanolips or a thick balm on hand to help my lips through each season.
Can you share one secret beauty tip?
I use Neutrogena's Ultra Sheer Fluid sunscreen as a moisturiser, it hydrates the skin, is non-greasy and fast absorbed into the skin, which really helps when blending your foundation.
Final beauty advice?
I cannot stress enough the importance of sun safety! Every day we're exposed to damaging UV rays - sunscreen application is an easy addition to your beauty routine, it will not only hydrate but also protect your skin.
Erin has partnered with Neutrogena to educate Australian women on the importance of sun safety with the launch of a sun smart fashion collection, 'Skinnovation'. The collection consists of a dress and shorts embroidered with UV-activated thread and beads which change colour when exposed to UV rays.
