Fashion's favourite influencer, Olivia Palermo, has a new project in the cosmetic arena. Named Ciaté London's Guest Creative Director (famous for the Caviar Manicure) Olivia's flawless yet eclectic style is injected into a new range of nail polishes. Rachael Mannell caught up with Ciaté's CEO and Founder Charlotte Knight during her recent trip to Australia - and found out more about the range and its conception.
Since we last met, you've signed Olivia Palermo as Guest Creative Director for 2015 of Ciaté, what drew you to her?
I've always admired Olivia's style and her ability to accessorise her outfits flawlessly. It seemed a natural progression for her to create a line of nail and make-up - the most popular way to accessorise a look.
Olivia is admired globally for her astute fashion sense, what was it like to work with her so closely?
I really enjoyed working with Olivia. She considered every aspect of the collection - from creating products that allow you to style looks to suit particular outfits and occasions, to considering the fabric used for the packaging to reflect current trends and her favourite textures.

How involved was she in the process?
Olivia has been involved in every aspect, making it a true collaboration between our brand and hers, which was crucial to us when deciding to take this journey. She came with a vision very similar to ours, choosing every colour and finish and naming each product after eclectic touches from her own life and style.
Can you give us some details about the range?
The first Olivia Palermo x Ciaté collection consists of three summer nail polish shades; Olivia's go-to red, 'Hutch', her haute-vacation coral, 'Nantucket' (one of her favourite places to holiday) and Olivia's off-duty nude, 'Sunday's' - in tribute to the Instagram post her husband shares every Sunday of the two of them together.

Did Olivia have a particular favourite?
I would say her go-to red, 'Hutch', which she named after her mother. Olivia is often seen wearing this signature shade and reminisces about when she was younger and would go for weekly manicures with her mum - they both only ever chose the colour red! We knew when we collaborated with Olivia we had to create the perfect red synonymous with her style.
Ciaté has recently transitioned from a nail colour brand into colour cosmetics, what was the decision behind the move?
I've always dreamed of creating my very own colour cosmetics collection. The name Ciaté is in fact an acronym which stands for Colour Innovation Aspiration Trend and Extraordinary and was always created with a vision that was more than just nails.

What are the heroes from the range?
My favourite products include Triple Shot Mascara, which offers triple benefits of lengthening, volumising and curling, and has already sold out four times in the US. My other favourites are Skinny Shadow Sticks, our answer to eyeshadow, which have over 100 or more applications in each stick, and can be used to line, blend and shade using the in-built brush. My favourite lip product has to be Liquid Velvet, a matte lipstick that has the benefits of a lipstick in the form of a gloss, keeping my lips moisturised with colour that doesn't budge.
Does it have a large celebrity following so far?
Our nail line has been fortunate to attract a strong celebrity following from Beyoncé, Blake Lively and Kylie Jenner to name a few. In fact, Beyoncé's sister Solange is already a fan of our make-up and wore our Lashlights pink lash tip mascara to the MTV Music Awards last year. Olivia Palermo is obviously a fan of the make-up and counts some of the products as her make-up bag must haves.
