In the last 12 months, just about everyone has incorporated some kind of oil into their beauty routine. Blame it on the advent of Moroccan oil way back when, which we all took to slathering onto our thirsty tresses like a global shortage was nigh, but now there's not a beauty cabinet to be seen that doesn't have rosehip, coconut, jojoba, argan or sweet almond oil on the shelves.

We slap it on our skin, hair, nails and faces - but our lips have remained largely untouched by the nourishing effects of a beauty oil. But a revolution is coming - and it all starts with this fancily packaged little stick.

The next big thing in beauty: lip oils

Yves Saint Laurent's Rouge Volupte Shine Oil-in-Stick combines the creamy texture and richly pigmented colour the house's lipsticks are famous for, injected with six oils plus hyaluronic acid, macadamia butter and pomegranate extract for a finish that glides on - and stays on. The formula is 60 per cent oils so it's easier to use than a traditional lipstick - i.e. you can probably do without a mirror - and feels more like a balm,  melting onto the lips and offering long-lasting hydration, colour and mega-watt shine.

In other words, it's the It-lipstick you've been waiting for. And in 12 shades, you'll probably need more than one.
