Candy crush: try the trend that's sugar-coating the model crowd

Candy-coloured hair is only getting bigger - especially now that Queen Cara's in on the action

We admit it: when Kylie Jenner, Kaley Cuoco and Ellie Goulding dyed their hair in lollipop shades, we didn't pay much attention. But the latest crop of pastel dye jobs has us sitting up and taking notice: from up-and-coming Aussie model Fernanda Hin Lin Ly's fairy floss locks at the Louis Vuitton Cruise '16 show to the silvery tresses at Gucci Cruise '16, it's clear: candy-coloured hair is having a moment.

Cara Delevingne is the latest model to try the trend, making headlines when she appeared at Montreal's Osheaga music festival overnight sporting a pastel pink dye job (or wig - the jury's still out). But it was L'Oréal's latest face Soo-Joo Park who sealed the deal for us when she showed off newly coloured turquoise tresses on Instagram recently, with the hashtag #bluelightspecial. We'd call her brave, but she's not alone: Jourdan Dunn has been spotted sporting a vivid purple mane, Abbey Lee Kershaw has a new-found penchant for pink highlights and Nicole Richie is a long-time fan of sorbet shades all over.

Yes, the look will be polarising, but these girls make a persuasive case. And yes, pastel can come across a bit too pretty, but there's nothing saccharine whatsoever about these edgy dye jobs. One thing's for sure: blondes aren't the ones having the most fun anymore.
